Xiaomi showcases its Loop Liquid Cool Technology. Today, Xiaomi unveiled their innovation in heat dissipation via a blog.post and they are calling it Loop LiquidCool Technology.
We have seen many liquid cooling solutions for smartphones from graphite sheets to the latest vapor chamber cooling solutions. The new liquid cooling solutions from Xiaomi have twice the cooling capacity compared to the vapor chamber solution. Xiaomi is also aiming to bring Loop LiquidCool solution in their products in H2 2022.
We have seen the flagship devices heat a lot due to the more powerful Socs. The snapdragon 888 has many heating issues due to the use of the X1 core. The X1 core is more powerful and heats quicker and causing the smartphone to heat quicker.

How Does it Work?
Here’s how the new Cooling solution from Xiaomi functions.
The Cooling system features an annular heat pipe system that is composed of an evaporator, a condenser, a refill chamber, gas, and liquid pipes. Placed at heat sources, the evaporator has a refrigerant that evaporates to gas when the smartphone is under high workload. The gas and airflow are then diffused to the condenser, where the gas condenses into liquid again. These liquids are absorbed and collected through tiny fibers in the refill chamber, which refills the evaporator making it a self-sustaining system.
Also to ensure one-way high-efficiency circulation, Xiaomi implemented a Tesla valve structure within the refill chamber. A Tesla valve is a one-way valve that allows liquid to pass through the evaporator while blocking gases from moving in the incorrect direction. This allows for higher efficiency in gas/liquid circulation throughout the system.
The difference between the Vapor chamber and the new Loop Liquid solution. The new cooling technology from Xiaomi uses separate channels for gases and liquids, hot gas, and cool liquids mix. While the traditional Vapor chamber doesn’t have separate channels like Loop Liquiccool.
Loop LiquidCool Technology:
Xiaomi installed the new LiquidCool Technology on Xiaomi Mix 4 by replacing the original Vapor chamber system. They ran a 30 minutes GamePlay test. They did the test playing Genshin Impact with a 60fps video setting. Xiaomi said, the device was at 47.7℃ max temperature keeping the device under 50℃ and the processor was 8.8℃ lower than that of with Vapor chamber.
This new Liquid cooling technology looks promising and needs to see how it performs in day-to-day use. As Xiaomi said they are aiming to bring it by H2 2022. We can expect it to be used in the Xiaomi Mix 5 which will launch in H2 2022.
