Well, we have seen the Smartphone OEMs start removing headphone jacks from their flagship smartphones for quite a few years now. It all started back in 2016, with Apple removing the headphone jack in their iPhone 7.
It was the first time we saw a Flagship smartphone with no headphone jack. OPPO was the first brand to remove the headphone jack with Oppo Finder in 2012. Later, all the Android OEMs started the footprints of apple and removed the 3.5mm jack from their flagships.
Since then 3.5mm jack on the flagship has been the rear case. Last year we saw a headphone jack on a few smartphones, Sony’s Xperia 1 III, Redmagic 6 Pro, and Asus Zenfone 8.
It will be surprising to see a flagship in 2022 with a headphone jack. And you will be surprised to know that you will still see a 3.5mm jack on a flagship smartphone in 2022.
As the upcoming Asus flagship and the successor of the Zenfone 8, Asus Zenfone 9 features a 3.5mm jack. This will be the second flagship smartphone to come with a 3.5mm jack in 2022. Asus’s very own ROG 6 gaming phone is the first one to feature a 3.5mm headphone jack even in 2022.
The leaked promotional video of the upcoming Asus Zenfone 9 shows the smartphone design featuring a headphone jack along with key specs.
